Ice fishing Overview

Ice fishing

A modern variant of angling that primarily targeted for pike.

The Basics

The ice cream can be called modern angling.
When ice cream is used you use short ice cream rods, roll, and a so-called spring rocker with bells attached, which act as pacifier indicator.
It is first and foremost the modern fishing equipment in the form of rod, reel and rope that separates the ice from the angling.

The tricky thing about ice meth is that you can fish several holes at the same time, thanks to the effective pacifier indicators.

Most often, you make holes in a pattern that you think covers fish-bearing water, and then simply wait for the chop. When ice creams are used almost exclusively natural baits, ie fish. Mortar is common, but also Norwegian and herring.

As with all ice fishing, safety is incredibly important. Do not go out alone if the ice is thinner than 10 cm, bring with you safety equipment such as a mobile phone, whistle and ice drops.

Equipment

An ice meter rod is a short and powerful rod and is relatively inexpensive.

The rollers used are either reel or multi roll.

The rope you use is nylon, and at the last bit you usually join to a piece of fluorocarbon. If you are fishing for pike you should have a pike taff, eg. a steel wire closest to the bait. Above the paw you put a ball sink, or other weight, that makes the bait stay at the depth you want to fish.
The bait, ie the bait fish, you attach with one or two wooden hooks, preferably in small size (6-8).

In addition to the rod, reel and rope (and angel rocker) you also need a drill, and the drill should preferably be of larger diameter (approx. 200 mm) in order to catch really big fish.
You also need a backing mat, without a backing mat it can be difficult to handle the fish on the ice without damaging its mucus layer.
It can also be easy to bring along a good pair of pliers to quickly hook the fish and let it go back. Another thing that really facilitates if you intend to bring a lot of equipment with you is an ice-cream plaque.
