Belongs to the simpor family. Lives in fresh water, but can go out in brackish water.
Bergsimpan has a strong head with a large, fleshy mouth and a backwardly tapering body colored in gray-brown with darker spots. It has two dorsal fins, of which the posterior one is the longest.
